Precinct Committee Officers - The office of Precinct Committee Officer is open for filing May 14-18, but does not appear on the list. Candidates may file for either the Democrat or Republican PCO for the precinct in which they live. Only contested races for Precinct Committee Officer will appear on the ballot in August. Precinct Committee Officer races in which only a single candidate files for office will be considered completed and that candidate will be considered to be elected (RCW 29A.52.171).
All candidates for all offices must be an elector of their district. In accordance with RCW 29A.24.131, candidates may withdraw their declaration of candidacy at any time before the close of business on the Monday following the last day for candidates to file. For 2018, that day is Monday, May 21. This notice of withdrawal must be in writing. No filing fee may be refunded to any candidate who withdraws under this section.
To file for office by mail, use the Declaration of Candidacy Form (link above). Declarations may be received by mail in the Auditor's Office beginning Monday, April 30, 2018. All declarations must be received in the Auditor's Office no later than Friday, May 18, 2018. Candidate filing fees are not refundable, even in the event of candidate withdrawal.
There is no withdrawal period for declarations filed during a special filing period.
Lot drawings to determine ballot order for all positions in which the Island County Auditor is the filing officer will take place on Friday, May 18th at 4:30 p.m. in the Elections Office. The lot draw is open to all members of the media, political parties, campaigns and the general public.
