All candidates for all offices must be an elector of their district. In accordance with RCW 29A.24.131, candidates may withdraw their declaration of candidacy at any time before the close of business on the Monday following the last day for candidates to file. For 2019, that day is Monday, May 20. The notice of withdrawal must be in writing. No filing fee may be refunded to any candidate who withdraws under this section.
To file for office by mail, use the Declaration of Candidacy Form (link above). Declarations may be received by mail in the Auditor's Office beginning Monday, April 29, 2019. All declarations must be received in the Auditor's Office no later than Friday, May 17, 2019. Candidate filing fees are not refundable, even in the event of candidate withdrawal.
There is no withdrawal period for declarations filed during a special filing period.
Lot drawings to determine ballot order for all positions in which the Island County Auditor is the filing officer will take place on Friday, May 17th at 4:30 p.m. in the Elections Office. The lot draw is open to all members of the media, political parties, campaigns and the general public.
