​Island County Medical Reserve Corps

The Island County Medical Reserve Corps (ICMRC) is a local network of volunteers organized to improve the health and safety of communities on Whidbey and Camano Island. Volunteers include medical and public health professionals as well as other community members with no prior healthcare background. 

ICMRC utilizes volunteers to strengthen community health, enhance emergency response capabilities, and boost community resiliency. They prepare for and respond to natural and manmade disasters such as winter storms, flooding, earthquakes, as well as public health emergencies such as disease outbreaks. They also participate in activities that promote health and wellness throughout the county. These may include but are not limited to: 

  • ​Emergency Preparedness Training

  • Response Training 

  • Mass Care and Sheltering Operations

  • Disaster Medical Support

  • Disaster Risk Reduction

  • Medical Surge Operations

  • Veterinary Support and Pet Preparedness

  • Points of Dispensing

  • Vaccination Clinic

  • Health Education and Promotion

  • Community Outreach to Vulnerable Populations

  • Youth Education​

The Island County Medical Reserve Corps is actively recruiting volunteers to help in our community. Health professionals and support people are encouraged to join the MRC. Trainings are developed to help volunteers meet the current needs in the community.

Join the Island County MRC

Complete the application (parts 1-6) and read the Island County MRC handbook:

  1. MRC Application

  2. MRC Worker Registration Card-DEM

  3. MRC Disclosure and Authorization for Background Checks

  4. MRC Photo Consent Form

  5. MRC Handbook -  send email to: MRC@IslandCountyWA.gov  to confirm you have read this document

  6. Chest and higher photo of yourself for a MRC identification badge (passport quality is sufficient)

Complete HIPAA and Blood Borne Pathogen (parts 1-2) Training

*These trainings need to be submitted with your application.*

  3. Blood Borne Pathogen Training
  4. Blood Borne Pathogen Quiz

Complete the ICS Training Courses (parts 1-2) Online Through FEMA

*These courses need to be completed within three months of submitting your application.*

These courses will help you to understand the Incident Command Structure, that MRC fits into, during a disaster:

  1. ICS 100 - Introduction to the Incident Command System

  2. IS 700 - Introduction to the National Incident Management System

Turn in All of Your Forms/Certifications to Island County MRC.
