Healthy Snacks for Healthy Teeth
NO juice in bottles.
Apple juice is one the hardest on teeth, so limit that juice.
Avoid sugar drinks such as prepackaged juice drinks: Gatorade, Sunny Delight, and box drinks have a lot of sugar which can damage teeth.
Other juice for breakfast is okay.
Regular pop has 16 teaspoons of sugar in one can!
WATER IS BEST!
Keep sugar-free gum on hand for a treat. Look for xylitol on the label.
Offer a variety of vegetable, fruits, and dairy products for healthy eating.
If you or your family is going to have a sweet snack, it is better to eat sweets with or right after the meal than by themselves.
Avoid sharing cups and silverware. Bacteria that cause tooth decay can spread from parent to child.
Sticky candies (taffy, caramels, fruit snacks or rollups) stay on the teeth longer.
Small amounts of chocolates are okay-just brush afterward!
