Yellow archangel (Lamiastrum galeobdolon)
Found in forest understory, clearing edges, sun to full shade, any soil type.
Evergreen ground cover around 12-14 in. high, attractive small oval leaf, coarsely toothed with silvery gray markings. Stems are square with opposite leaves. Small yellow tubular flowers borne opposite appear on stems April to June. Somewhat unpleasant odor.
Widely installed in gardens as a ground cover, it has escaped (and been thrown in compost) from hanging baskets, rockeries, and flower beds.
Spreads rapidly displacing native vegetation; does not support wildlife nutrition or shelter needs reducing species diversity.
