Board Adopts new Events regulations
The Board of Island County Commissioners approved the new Events regulations after a public hearing on December 11, 2018. Ordinance C-127-18.
Draft 3.0 of Event Code Available for Review and Comment
After the Planning Commission reviewed the second draft of the new regulations for Events at their meeting on Monday, October 22nd, their comments were incorporated into a new draft of the regulations.

Board adopts new regulations for wineries, cideries, breweries, and distilleries
After a public hearing at their 9/4/18 meeting, the Board of Island County Commissioners adopted new regulations for wineries, cideries, breweries, and distilleries. Please note these are NEW regulations, the County did not previously have code specific to these uses. The ordinance adds definitions, adds the uses to the zoning districts that apply, and adds specific development standards.
Project Summary
Background
A review of rural lands issues began with the 2016 Comprehensive Plan update, but was deferred until after the update was completed. The discussions will continue in 2018.
Goals & Objectives
Evaluating potential regulatory updates related to the following activities occuring in rural areas.
- Part 1. Winter/Spring
- Wineries, Cideries, Breweries & Distilleries
- Events (Summer)
- Part 2. ON HOLD
- Home Business & Home Industry
- Chickens/Roosters
Although Comprehensive Plan changes are not anticipated they may also be discussed during the update process.

A significant amount of review and public engagement occurred during the 2016 Comprehensive Plan update; that input was utilized to develop the scope for this project.

event code options.
