  Freeland Development Regulations Public Hearing 
      6 PM on Monday, April 22nd @ Freeland Hall

The Planning Commission  will hold a special session to hold a public hearing to consider a recommendation to the Board of Island County Commissioners on an ordinance adopting the Freeland Zoning Code.  The ordinance will include all related updates necessary to the adoption of the new code, and will include

  • Adopting Chapter 17.06 ICC (the Freeland Zoning Code), 
  • Establishing new zoning districts and a growth phasing plan for the Freeland NMUGA, and
  • Amending the following:
    • The Freeland Subarea Plan,
    • The Island County Zoning Atlas, AND
    • Chapters 11.01, 11.02, 15.03, 16.06, 16.10, 16.15, 16.17, 16.19, and 17.03 ICC.

The Public Hearing will be held at 6 PM in Freeland Hall, 1515 Shoreview Dr, Freeland.  The hearing documents are posted to the Planning Commission website and the project page at :

  SEPA Issued for Proposed FEMA Door 2 Code Changes

New voluntary standards for property owners in the Special Flood Hazard Area are being proposed. These voluntary standards would provide for a more streamlined permitting option. A SEPA determination of non-significance has been issued. to view the SEPA determination and associated materials please visit the project page:
