Island County Notice of SEPA Determination

Island County has issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) in accordance with the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) for proposed revisions to the Island County Critical Areas Ordinance.  Goals for this update include the following tasks: 1) update the critical areas regulations for consistency with best available science, 2) identify and consider optional programmatic and regulatory improvements, 3) identify regulatory changes that further implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, 4) identify regulatory changes needed to ensure consistency with state and/or federal law 5) create one critical areas chapter that applies to all critical areas, and 6) encourage the continued use of agriculture on smaller parcels while simultaneously ensuring our critical areas are protected.  

Threshold Determination:

 Island County has determined that this non-project proposal does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030(2)(c). This decision was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with Island County.

Island County Notice of SEPA Determination

Island County has issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS) in accordance with the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) for proposed revisions to the Island County Countywide Planning Policies.  During the 2016 Comprehensive Plan Update process a number of items were identified for review and potential refinement, including policies that referenced items that were deleted as part of the 2016 update.  Goals for this update include the following tasks: 1) Update CWPPs to reflect policy decisions made during the 2016 Comprehensive Plan periodic update, 2) Apply refinements identified as desirable during the 2016 update, and 3) Clarify processes and remove duplication, including revising language and terminology to match state statutes.

Threshold Determination:

 Island County has determined that this non-project proposal does not have a probable significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030(2)(c). This decision was made after review of a completed environmental checklist and other information on file with Island County.
