2020 Call For Projects: Submittals, Rankings, and Presentations

Announcement of Federal Transportation Project Funding Availability

The Island Regional Transportation Planning Organization (IRTPO) is announcing a call for projects. Two funding sources: Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) and Transportation Alternatives (TA) will be available for projects to be prioritized for 2020-2025. Projects receiving awards from this call would add to currently programmed projects for the six-year cycle. Grant funds may be used by eligible sponsor for projects that preserve and improve the transportation system and area consistent with regional priorities.

STBG funds may be utilized for projects under 23 U.S.C. 133(b). Eligible activities for TA funds are detailed under 23 U.S.C. 101 (a)(29) or 213. Funds are allocated to our region for project prioritization and selection.

Sponsors eligible for STBG and TA funds through the IRTPO include local governments, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, schools, tribal governments, and any other local or regional government entity with responsibility for oversight of transportation that the State of Washington determines to be eligible, consistent with the goals of subsection (c) of section 213 of title 23.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Susan Driver, Island County Transportation Planner, at 360-678-7959 or at s.driver@islandcountywa.gov for more information. Project application submittal deadline is coming soon.
