Island County Treasurer

*** OFFICE IS OPEN - WITH PRECAUTIONS ***
The Island County Treasurer's Office in Coupeville and the Camano Administration Building are open to the public with safety and health precautions in effect. At the present time masks are not required. We practice limited entry and six-foot distancing for the safety of staff and customers. These ppractices are also observed at the Camano Administration Building.

We encourage you to consider paying electronically - refer to "Paying Your Taxes Online" under "Property Taxes" in the menu at left. There is no fee for paying by electronic check.

Property taxes for 2022 are certified and statements were mailed Feb. 24. Any unpaid balances remaining from prior periods are delinquent.

Balance information is also posted on this website (see the Make a Payment link, above).

Due date for property taxes in Island County was April 30, 2022 and second half balances were due Oct. 31. Reminder postcards were sent June 8.

The property taxes paid to the Island County Treasurer are redistributed to the State of Washington to fund public schools, the special purpose districts that provide services (hospital districts, school districts, cities, fire districts, parks and recreation districts, diking districts, drainage districts, the library district, emergency medical services, etc.), and Island County (roads and public services). These districts require tax revenues to continue operations and provide services to county residents. Additionally, many have outstanding bond issues with debt service payments due June 1 and Dec. 1. On behalf of the state and districts, we appreciate your prompt payments.

If you do not receive a tax statement by mail, request that one be emailed to you by completing this online form.

Failure to receive a statement by mail does not absolve the taxpayer of the responsibility to make timely payment per RCW 84.56.050. Checks received without appropriate interest and/or penalties included will be applied as partial payments.
