The following courses are available for Island County staff to take through the Washington Counties Risk Pool:
Situational Awareness - Safety is Thinking at the Speed of Life
With increased civil unrest and potential workplace violence, individuals need to be aware of their surroundings and form plans of action now more than ever. Participants of this training will come away with a better understanding of what drives gut instincts in certain situations and what those instincts are trying to tell people. Participants will also gain an understanding of how to use instructor Jesus Villahermosa, Jr.'s C.L.E.A.R. acronym to be more aware of their surroundings while interacting with those around them and realize when it’s time to implement a plan of action and mitigate the risk of an assault.
Ethical Decision-Making
The expectations of our citizens regarding the need for employees to engage in ethical behavior are at an all-time high, yet there is often confusion regarding what that really means in practice. Ethical standards can be very different in the public sector than in the private sector and may sometimes seem to conflict with excellent customer service expectations. In this training, participants will approach ethical challenges using suggested employer policies, procedures, and regulations as a foundation for decision-making and making the ethical choice. Join us for this highly interactive and engaging training where attendees will break into groups and strategize together.
Check with your direct supervisor for approval before signing up for training courses.
