Social Outreach, Adventure, & Resilience (SOAR)
A community program collaboration to support youth behavioral health outcomes in rural communities.
Island County's work includes programming directly impacting the community’s ability to access quality behavioral health services and increasing opportunities to connect youth to resiliency-building programs.
Through the advocacy of Representative Paul, we were able to secure HCA funding to support these programs beginning in 2022.

Doug Standish has been a fantastic leader of Teen programs including camp at Arrowhead Ranch, cultivating a music program, supporting youth leadership programs, incorporating elements of sensory support into the teen center environment and advocacy to local youth services. These services offer a much-needed support for adolescents of Camano.

The YMCA of Stanwood has offered a range of supportive programs. They support a youth leadership program. They offer support in summer camps, regular YMCA programing, and a youth drop-in center.
Thanks to the support from SOAR, our organization has empowered teens to access membership and engage in youth programming, including the Achievers Program, Youth and Government, and Leaders Club, all at no cost. Additionally, they have had the opportunity to participate in our exceptional summer camps and swim teams without any financial burden. This support has truly made a meaningful impact on our youths' lives.
